MY CANDLE STORY...

My journey began when I moved to Miami in 2015 and had my own apartment for the first time. I am a complete neat freak and absolutely love to clean. My guilty pleasure was picking up at least 6 candles, one for each room, every week when I would run my errands. I would light them all at once after I cleaned and instantly a euphoric feeling would fill up my personal space as I kicked back on the couch and lit up a joint, basking in the essence of my fragrant home. I’d drift away in my thoughts even more at ease without a care of my neighbors complaining of any lingering scent of my recreational herbal habits.
Two years later, I moved back to my home state, New Jersey, and bought a condominium. In celebration, of course, I went out and bought candles to help make my new place feel like home. Soon after, Winter was upon us and I found myself stuck inside, snowed in, many weekends unable to replenish my candle stash! At this point I said to myself, "I just need to make my own candles."
I knew the reasons why I loved candles so much; aesthetically pleasing, aromatherapy, Oder absorbing and relaxation, just to name a few. I began to do some research on candles and to my surprise, I discovered there was so much I did not know about them. I learned about the different types of candles from paraffin wax, to beeswax and soy wax and their contributions to the environment. My interest was definitely peeked at this point and my obsession with candle making quickly grew.
The more I researched, the more I realized how important it was for me to make all natural soy candles. Although paraffin wax is one of the most popular wax used to make candles, it was not the healthiest. In 2018, I bought by first batch of soy wax candle making supplies and began experimenting with all types of wicks, scents and jars. It took me about 4 months to make my almost perfect candle. The beauty of my candle journey was now full underway and La Chandelle was born!!!
I welcome you all to join me in my still evolving journey, fall in love and learn more about candles along the way. I encourage you to drop me a note and share your stories, suggestions and questions as you explore my page.
